Groove Coaster: Zero by TAITO Corporation is a musical rhythm game that appears simple but will mess with your mind. Coming originally from Japan, this game features popular songs from Japanese artists JIN, Wowaka, KutousaP, and also includes American artists such as Lady Gaga, LMFAO, and Gwen Stefani.

Gameplay

The game sounds relatively simple: tap the screen when the dot reaches the target zone. What makes this game challenging and entertaining is the speed and how the line of notes twist and turn on the screen. As you gain experience and progress through the levels, the game becomes more challenging by adding screen swipes, bead strings, wave lines, and combos. Groove Coaster has a very high learning curve that will keep you striving for perfection. It is not one of those games that you can pick up and play perfectly right away, unless of course you are some kind of superhuman born on another planet and for whatever reason decided to stay here instead.

Graphics

The graphics in this game fit the gameplay and style perfectly, it is not too much or too little. It has many colors and light flashes that also contribute to the difficulty of the game by distracting your eyes. Without concentration, you will not get anywhere in this game.

If you are a fan of Japanese pop music or if you want to open your mind to a new kind of music, this game is for you. Since it is from Japan, the majority of songs are Japanese. Groove Coaster has a massive library of songs available for purchase through both song packs and individual songs. Spending $20 on Vocaloid song packs is difficult to resist, just a warning. I recommend this game to anybody.
