Boys Soccer Team Recognized By Board of Education

After another great season, the Bulldog boys soccer team was recognized by the school board last night for completing the season with a 14-2-2 record. Assistant coach Stacy Smith was there to award the boys with certificates of congratulation.

Alumni were also happy with the performance even after coming off of a 17-3-1 record last season. Class of 2014 graduate Nick Joslyn was particularly pleased with the team’s excellent form.

“The [boys] team was great as always. I was happy to see them make it to the state tournament again this year. That’s always a goal we try to achieve every year,” he said.

Many doubted the boys this season, after graduating nine starting players last year. Sophomore and former soccer player Elliott Stiefel really thought the boys did a great job of coming back after losing such a key group of players.

“I knew that they would play well this season,” Stiefel said. “We have a strong team, and they can really cope and bond together well”

Next season seven seniors will be graduating, so the Bulldogs will have to build up the team again. Head coach Mark Joslyn believes that the boys can do just as well in the upcoming seasons.

“It was a great season,” senior Quint Heineke said. “Even after losing key players it was a solid season and I know the boys can do it again next year.”
