The Baldwin Wrestling team has finished up it’s year at 4A State Championship with results of the boys wrestling team finishing their year placing 19th at state this year. The girls team finished their year placing 8th.

“My favorite part of the season was boys and girls regionals because you could see who had put in the dedication for the whole season and who wanted to go to state.” said Levi Green, the new head coach for Baldwin Wrestling.  The matches are more intense and there is something on the line for them. Qualifying for state is a great achievement so there is a lot at the regional tournament.

The boys and girls wrestled regionals. It was a one day tournament. We had seven boys qualify for state and two of them placed at state. The girls had five girls qualify for state and three girls place at state.

“My favorite part of the season this year was Levi the head coach,” senior Jayden Westgate said

This year was Green’s first year of being the head coach for Baldwin Wrestling. Last year he was on the coaching crew as an assistant coach.

“I like Levi being the head coach because we have a good relationship on the mat and off the mat,” Westgate said.

The wrestling team went to state with 12 people total and an outcome of 5 state placers total.

“I would say the senior group has made this season a lot of fun,” assistant coach Jesse Austin. “The state experience this year was probably one of my all-time favorites as well.  We didn’t finish how I had wanted us to, but it was an awesome and fun experience.”

On the team this year we had 11 seniors on the team this year.

My favorite part of the season was getting to see the improvement and the progress of the girls from tournament to tournament,” assistant coach Sarah Johnson said. “It’s especially exciting when someone gets their first ever win. I am extremely proud of how we wrestled this year. We weren’t expected to be a top team at Regionals and even a top 10 team at State this year. We overcame many challenges this year and the team was able to prove it on the mat.”
