After a successful four years at BHS, alumnus Nick Joslyn is continuing to pursue his skills, interests and passions in Science and soccer at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

He misses Baldwin and how they did things around there compared to college.

“I will miss the atmosphere of Baldwin,” he said. “It was great for athletics (I loved playing high school soccer) and academics. I was also able to make a lot of great friends who I will keep in touch with.”

He also enjoys being a part of the college experience.

“It is fun to branch out and experience life in college,” he said. “Academically, I have learned new ways to manipulate computers in my Big Data and Computer Science classes.”

He enjoys plays soccer for Simpson.

“Obviously, as a soccer player, much of my fall semester has been dedicated to Soccer, and I love it,” he said. “College soccer is tons of fun. I love my teammates and it is a real good time.”

When it comes to schoolwork, the classes are differently set up than high school.

“The classroom setup is quite a bit different than high school. In fact it is more similar to block scheduling,” he said. “I have four classes Monday, Wednesday, Friday and only one class on Tuesday and Thursday. Each class is about an hour and a half long. The classes assign a lot of reading, and material goes by quicker, but overall I feel Baldwin has prepared me for my college rigor.”

Joslyn is wanting to be a Scientific Researcher in the future.

“Currently I am taking Math and Computer Science courses,” he said. “Next fall I will enroll in Physics classes. I am hoping to center around these three fields of study.”

“Joslyn had a very successful four years at BHS and teachers thought highly of him, He was an excellent student.’’ English/Journalism teacher Kit Harris said. “He placed at Regional and State Journalism competition. He was very hard working and responsible, he put a lot of effort into things.”
