With three new staff at BHS, they came prepared and ready to kick off a great year with the Baldwin Bulldogs at their new school

“I feel like I already know the student body very well,” new choir teacher Erin Buffum states, “because the population of this school, is almost half of my previous one.”

Women’s chorus placing a number 1 rank at regionals, Buffum has an incredible start with a great choir on her hands. Buffum is not the only new teacher to Baldwin High School, there is also Andrew Ising, the Biology, and College Biology teacher, also leading the bulldog soccer team as head coach.

“It is nice to have a small community and school. With such a small society,” Ising said, “I get to understand the students more and develop all the different personalities”

Buffum has great plans for her future in teaching at BHS, she is helping in the musical “Oklahoma” coming soon. She also plans on having the first choir concert Oct. 27 in the Performing Arts Center. It is going to take the new staff a little while to accumulate with the new surroundings of BHS, but it will not take too long before they get the hang of it.

“The only difference of teaching here is I am unfamiliar with where objects are,” Ising joked. “I’m constantly opening and closing cabinets, looking around in all different places for the one thing I’m looking for.”

Student Elizabeth Christener thinks Ising is not only a good teacher but also funny.

“He makes several jokes,” Christener said. “He seems like he could make my senior year a great and humorous one.”

Principal Rob McKim seems to think the four new teachers at BHS are staying on track with the students and helping them the best way they can.

“For only being in school for three weeks so far, they are doing a wonderful job. Any new school is not the easiest,” McKim said. “They are keeping the students engaged, and actively learning with their experience.”
