Students compete in District FBLA

District VI FBLA was on Wednesday, Jan. 13. This was the largest number of students Baldwin has ever taken to districts.

“I am very happy with how I did at districts,” junior Emma Bailey said. “I love speaking in front of people, so giving a speech is no big deal to me. Additionally, I really enjoyed participation in a variety of events. I think our entire group of Baldwin High students did well. Now we have a few months to prepare for state.”

Bailey became a state officer for 2016-17. Bailey is the first state officer from Baldwin High School ever. She is also the Vice President for District IV.

“Being a state officer is a great opportunity,” Bailey said. “To me, it means furthering my education, enjoying new experiences, and helping better a society that has been a big part of my high school career. I look forward to networking with students state and nation wide and working with fantastic business leaders.”

Every student who competed placed in at least one thing. Bailey received first for the Future Business Leader, and the team of Emma Mclaren, Drew Villica, and Jenny Flory received first in Publication Design.

“This is the largest number of students we have taken to districts and I am proud of their efforts,” business teacher Patty Lenning said.

State FBLA will be held in Topeka on April 3 and 4.
