National parks overlooked as vacation destinations

I myself have been to many National parks. Most of them was when I was little girl and went with a big group of my family. These parks were the only places I really got to connect with my great parents. They thought me how to fish and cook over a fire. These places are truly the only memories I can remember about all my great grandparents.

These parks you can just go to, to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. There isn’t a lot of cell service, and usually no wifi if you stay in a cabin. We usually camped in the mountain and occasionally stayed in a cabin in the forest somewhere. Just camping in the mountains is good for survival skills. You learn how to fish, making a fire, pitching a tent. You learn to enjoy nature and just roll with whatever it throws at you, like thunderstorms and snow.

The weather sometimes isn’t the best. One time it rained the whole time we were down there. That was the time we rented a cabin. You connect a lot more with your family, because you will not have cell phone connection or wifi. You will actually have to interact with your family for the whole vacation.

The results revealed that 3 out of 4 Americans would rather vacation in a national park than at a standard tourist hot spot such as a theme park or packaged beach resort.- (Natural Habitat Adventures and WWF). I prefer National parks because it just relaxing, and I get to spend a lot of time with my family. My parents are very busy in the summer and so is my sister and me because of sports and work. So being able to get away and be as a big happy family makes us all happy, and the car rides there are always fun. My dad prefers to drive because he likes being able to see the scenery.

My Grandpa and Grandma Ellis have been to many national parks, and this is what they had to say about national parks as vacation destinations. They said usually the places set aside are the most beautiful places, also being able able to see the parks first hand is so breathtaking. They were also really impressed with Mount Rushmore. Also a good place to teens to visit and enjoy would be Yellowstone Park, because there is so much stuff to do and look at. My favorite park would be Yellowstone because being able to see a live Volcano was so cool, I will never forget that view.

An average of 26,542 people visit yellowstone on a typical July day. Also the Great Smoky mountains the past year has averaged more than 9 million annual visitors, and is ranked as the nation’s most popular park (Travelandleisure). In one of my books, National Parks of the West for Dummies, I tossed in a short chapter that offers readers ten reasons why a national park visit is so much better than a theme park trek(Kurt Repanshek). Repanshek also said that it costs $15 more to get into a theme park, than a National park. There is no closing time or lines you can stay as long as you like.

These parks should be considered as vacation destinations because its a great place to go and relax with your family. These parks may not be here for forever, might as well see them now than regret that you never did.
