This year the small class, of only 10 students, Digital Media Newspaper is producing a monthly newspaper. Many are excited for the first issue to be finished and released. The staff of the newspaper have worked really hard to bring this together and make it all work. A few members of the staff were asked some questions about how it all works and who does what.

  1. What do you do for the newspaper?
  2. What goes into making the paper?
  3. Who does what?
  4. How long do you have to do each issue?

“I’m the Editor-in-Chief but I also do page design. Blood sweat and tears go into it. It’s a very stressful process, but I love it so much. At the moment, most of the staff write stories or do surveys and I assign things and do page design. It takes about a month for the new issues we have,” Editor-in-Chief Kaydawn Bonecutter said. “I make the Flip Side, by getting the photos, and organizing them and finding different things to be fun. A lot of hard work, and dedication, we work every day to get stories, then actually put them into the paper and make sure it’s long enough, even on the Flip Side you have to make sure you have everything that you need and it looks professional. We have roughly about two weeks to get our paper to print, which that is not a lot of time with only 45 minutes in class. But once we really get into full swing it will be easier with more activities in school,” junior Jessi Dowell says. “I currently post out for cheer and the musical. I also have written a story about the exchange students of BHS. A lot goes into the making of the paper. It’s a lot of hard work and stress to make it great, but the ending result is always exciting. Stories need written, and photos taken to even think about starting, next layout and design, then headers and content. The whole lot makes for a great professional newspaper. We each have different jobs. Each important each needed. We have just under a month to complete an issue, beginning to end,” junior Moe Rhodes said. Many of the staff members are very eager to get the first issue out. So much hard work has gone into this issue and the many more to follow.
