Maple Leaf 5k running on its 36th year

The 36th annual Maple Leaf 5k run is on Oct. 18, at the Baldwin Golf Course at 8 a.m. This event is a fundraiser put on by Kit Harris, a former runner of the race and head coach of the wrestling team. The proceeds from this event go to fundraising the Baldwin High School wrestling team.

Kit Harris’s motivation for the run.

“My wife and I have been doing road races for many years,” Harris said. “And I took over this event for a Wrestling Fundraiser.”

The 5k run has been a wrestling fundraiser for the past four years.

“It has been a very successful four years,” Harris said. “It makes about a $1,000 a year.”

Registration for the 5k will close at 8 a.m. before the race begins. Runners can also find a register form online at Mapleleaffestival.com
