Ever since 1972 when the classic game Pong was released by Atari, game developers have tried to recreate the game. Among these game designers was Nolan Bushnell who was behind the production of the game Breakout. His main idea was to basically create a single player version of pong. The release of Breakout spawned more developers trying to make a clone of that game, even today. That is exactly what the iPad game Trixibrix is but with a few innovative features added to the game to make it unique.

Gameplay

The basic gameplay is very similar to Breakout, you control a platform and shoot the ball toward the bricks to break them by simply moving the platform under the ball as it bounces back. The difference with Trixibrix is the sidescroller element. As the game progresses, the bricks move to the left and get faster as you move along and you earn point bonuses when you destroy a section of bricks. Players can also obtain power ups that fall from some of the bricks that cause advantages such as multiple balls.

Graphics

The graphics in this game are pretty basic. It has some enhancements in comparison to the original Breakout game to give it a more modern feel and make the game visually entertaining. There is not anything too special about the graphics though but Trixibrix is one of those games where if they tried too hard with the graphics and visuals then it could hinder the overall experience when playing the game. Simple games shouldn’t try to look like something it’s not and the creators did a good job at keeping a simple game simple.

Overall, this game is more unique than most Breakout clones which gives fans of the original Atari game something similar without being too similar.
