Grades are becoming more important than learning. Students are so focused on what their grades are so that they can get into college or not get into trouble with their parents, this creates a barrier of learning. This causes a lot of students to rush to get assignments or resolve to cheating. This doesn’t help kids learn and frankly it adds a lot of pressure to these students.
Most kids are encouraged to work hard and have all A’s which can be a good thing but it can also lead to a lot of academic pressure. Students still need time off to rest. Going to school five days a week for eight hours a day then spending hours on your homework does not rest your brain. Working like this constantly can stress you out on whether or not you did everything in time or if you’ll get a good grade.
We can take some of this pressure off of students by not making all A’s the expectation, as well as focusing more on teaching the students. Now, nobody is saying we shouldn’t have grades because they do still help a LOT in some aspects, just that they shouldn’t be so heavily focussed on.
