The band has many talented musicians, and they are given the opportunity to perform in the KSHSAA Regional Solo & Small Ensemble Festival in Mill Valley High School on Saturday, April 11.
“We aren’t sounding great so far but I know that we will get there because we all are all willing to put in the effort,” sophomore Emily Stevanus said.
For those who get a 1 rating in Regional they can move on to the KSHSAA State Solo & Small Ensemble Festival In DeSoto HS on Saturday, April 25, is for any group that signs up and travels to DeSoto to perform.
“My expectations are for us to play well and just do our best and have fun” junior Maggie Todd said.
For students who don’t plan to take their solo or ensemble there is an open to viewers recital on Wednesday, March 25, at the high school to show students work and to prepare for those who do intend to take their music to state.
Todd is playing “Anitra’s Dance” for a woodwind quartet and plans to take her group to regionals and hopes to receive a one rating for their performance.
Students put in the effort outside of school time and schedule productive practices with their groups to ensure that they are well prepared to travel and share their music.
