Teen suicide is a tragic problem. Something needs to change.

According to The National Institute of Mental Health 1 in 100,000 children ages 10 to 14 die by suicide each year and 7 in 100,000 youth ages 15 to 19 die by suicide each year. Those numbers need to disappear.

The children are our future and they need to be here for it. One of the youth we lost could have cured cancer. Another one could have cured AIDS, or found a solution for poverty or world peace. We can not lose our future.

Schools, kids, and adults avoid talking about one of the biggest problems in the world. Avoiding problems does not fix them. We need to address it as best as we can. It is hard to talk about but it is harder to go through.

Schools and Businesses need to reach out to their students and workers. Check in on them. Do something about the problem. Have meeting or assemblies about suicide prevention. Reach out to a suicide prevention organization and get a table or an activity set up in the cafeteria.

We need to help the people in need, their lives depend on it.
