What are the point of parent teacher conferences? Are they to help kids do better in school or even to alert the parents of their kids struggles in school? Every year schools will have these take place a couple times a year but are they really needed.

Parent teacher conferences are not needed for schools. All they do is have the kids parents come to the school and talk to the teachers. Not much is actually done with improving the students academic skills.Sometimes the kids will have to come along with their parents to the conference. What’s the point in that?

There has been research showing that they may not be needed. It shows that if there was a problem with the student most likely the teacher would have already confronted the parent about it. Also if there was a problem the kid was worried about they would talk to their parents and teachers to try and figure out what to do.

Majority of the time parents don’t want to even go to parent teacher but do because they feel like it’s necessary to do. What they don’t realize though is, it’s not necessary to go. If they would stop parent teacher conferences no one would really miss them. Many parents have said that they don’t want or need to go to the conferences.

If your students is having trouble they should talk to their parent and teacher during class or when they get home. Most kids will do that and will alert there parents and teachers if they need help. If the kid does not feel the need to ask for help them they probably understand what they are doing in class. It is partly the kids job to get help to understand what they are doing in the class. It should not be the teacher’s job to tell the parent every once in awhile what their kid needs to work on.

I do not think parent teacher conferences are necessary. We should not have to have them in general or even have to worry about having them. If the kids do what they need to do and talk to their parents and teachers then we do not need to have them. Kids need to be responsible and take control of the situation and get they help they need without having to have parent teacher conferences.
