Q:Do you have a connection with your students?
“I want to say yes, I have a strong connection with my students. I am always looking to connect and find common ground with my students. I want them to feel like they are part of my family forever, because they are. They need to feel like regardless of everything I WILL STAND right beside them and walk with them through it all.”
Q:Do you enjoy teaching? What made you want to become a special education teacher?
“I wholeheartedly love my job. It is different everyday and always challenging in a new way. I went into teaching due to my own struggles as a student. I remember silently crying inside because I was so lost and had no clue what to do to help myself. I had a learning disability in reading so I had to re-read things over and over and over again to just get a C. I get the struggle and have learned how to overcome the limits of my disability to shine and assist others. I truly still can say that I love teaching and want to see others shine and succeed in life. My ultimate goal is to see my students be successful in life and school.”
Q:How long have you taught at Baldwin?
“I have been teaching here in Baldwin for 9 years. I taught for 10 years in Florida.”
Q:What is one of your most memorable experiences teaching here?
“There are so many, but I would have to say watching my medically fragile students graduate and wheel across the stage. It truly brought me to tears.
Every spirit day/week is memorable and fun for us teachers.”
