Since Flag Football is new at BHS there have been some girls who are very interested in the new sport. One of those girls is Gracie Hildebrand.
Hildebrand shares some of her thoughts on her coaching staff and how they have impacted the new team this year.
“The coaches have helped us a lot this year,” Hildebrand said. “They’ve taught us new skills, kept us motivated, and made sure we worked together as a team. They always encourage us to do our best, and that’s made a big difference. We definitely got lucky with our coaching staff.”
It is Hildebrand’s first time playing flag football and she is a starter for BHS.
“It has been fun playing for my first year,” Hildebrand said. “I do not do any fall sports so this was a good way to fill my time. I am definitely glad I decided to play this year.”
Teams have good and bad cultures but some affect how the playing is for the team.
“The culture of the team has been really positive,” Hildebrand said. “There’s a strong sense of support, respect, and accountability among the players, which I think is essential for success. Everyone is focused not just on individual performance, but on helping each other improve and grow as a team. Having a good team culture definitely affects how we play, when there is trust and communication off the field, it shows up on the field during games.”
Hildebrand has never played so lets see how she got into flag football.
“I wanted to join the flag football team because I wasn’t doing any fall sports and wanted to stay active,” Hildebrand said. “I also liked football but did not want to play on a tackle team.”
Also playing alongside with Hildebrand and the Bulldogs Junior quarterback Emme Nigh.
“It has been fun,” Nigh said. “My favorite part about playing with her is she helps keep the energy up and is very encouraging.”
