This year, Baldwin High School and SUTC celebrated their 10th annual Pink Out fundraiser at the Baldwin vs. Eudora volleyball game. This fundraiser is intended to benefit people in the community who have been affected by breast cancer in their lives.

President Claire Norris describes SUTC as “a club at BHS whose main goal is to spread wellness to the community, and help those who have battled cancer.”

Breast Cancer will affect 1 in 8 women in their lifetime, and there is an expected 268,600 new cases of breast cancer to be diagnosed in the U.S. in 2019 according to breastcancer.org.

The proceeds from the bake sale, silent auction, and concessions were all donated to benefit Lawrence Memorial Hospital Oncology.

Last year, SUTC raised over $5,600, which had been the most that the club has ever raised.

Club sponsor Debbie Baldwin had said to Norris, “Claire I don’t think we could ever top that.”

Baldwin was mistaken. This year, SUTC raised over $6,800 to donate to LMH Oncology.

They will also be donating a basket to Easton Base, a community member who is three years old and was diagnosed with Leukemia.

SUTC will be donating their funds on October 28.
