The football team unveiled their new black uniforms at the Back in Black Bash.

The cheering of the crowd is almost overwhelming as the student section went crazy when kickoff began. The football team started the first game of the season. The bash is a community event that opens the Bulldogs’ first game, and supports BHS programs that are willing to help.

“The bash is always our biggest crowd of the year, so it’s very enjoyable to see all the people there supporting our kids and our community,” Head Coach Mike Berg said.

The Bulldogs have been training since their loss in the Regional Fort Scott game.

Berg said, “We are excited after all the work we did this summer to see how good we are going to be.”

According to Berg’s thoughts on the game. “This year is going to be a war. We got to see Basehor scrimmage the other night, they are pretty good. They have a lot of starters returning this year so it should be a pretty good game.”

He was correct as the Bulldogs beat Basehor 21-19 by a crucial play with 42 seconds to go in the game.

Juniors Caleb Flory, Justin Howard, and Auggie Lange gang tackled the Quarterback attempting for the 1st down. They stopped the play resulting in a turnover allowing the Bulldogs to run the clock down.

Flory’s thoughts on this season were pretty clear in what his goal is. “I think we can do good if we work as a team. I wouldn’t expect anything but getting further in the post season than last year.”
