BULLDOG UPDATES: Bulldogs sending seven wrestlers to state

  • Date: Feb. 15-16
  • Opponents: Tonganoxie, Bonner Springs, Spring Hill, De Soto, Meriden-Jefferson West, Basehor-Linwood,  Atchison, Ottawa, Perry-Lecompton, Kansas City-Sumner Academy, Carbondale-Santa Fe Trail, Eudora, Kansas City-Piper, Kansas City-Bishop Ward
  • Results: BHS finished third out of 15 teams.
  • Highlights:  BHS had seven state qualifiers which is one short of the school record. Jon Pratt, Bryce Shoemaker, Tucker Clark, Mark Harman, Mario Garcia, Tiler Garcia, and Colton Horne all qualified for state. Shoemaker was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler by all of the head coaches.
  • Next Up: Feb. 22-23 at the Bicentennial Center in Salina.
  • Date: Feb. 8-9
  • Opponents: Spring Hill, Paola, Ottawa, Eudora, DeSoto, and Louisburg
  • Results: BHS won the League Championship for the second year in a row.
  • Highlights: Jon Pratt, Tucker Clark, Bryce Shoemaker, Jason Von Bargen, and Colton Horne all won League Championships in their weight class.
  • Next Up: Regionals on Feb. 15-16
  • Date: Feb. 6
  • Opponent: Osawatomie
  • Results: BHS defeataed Osawatomie 53-28
  • Highlights: It was Senior Night for the Bulldogs, seniors Bryce Shoemaker, Jason Von Bargen, Colton Horne, and Mark Harman all wrestled in their last home meet. Senior Acea McFarlane was unable to compete due to a shoulder injury.
  • Next Up: Feb. 8-9 at Ottawa.

  • Opponents: St. James Academy, Seaman, Salina South, Prairie View, Baldwin, Rossville, Leavenworth, Silver Lake, Wamego, St. Marys, Osawatomie, Anderson Co., Doniphan West, Chase Co., Louisburg, Iola, Clay Center, Erie
  • Results: Baldwin finished fifth out of 18 teams.
  • Highlights: Seniors Bryce Shoemaker and Jason Von Bargen won their weight class, junior Tucker Clark finished third in his and sophomore Jon Pratt finished second.
  • Next Up: 6 p.m. on Feb. 6 at home.

It was a big achievement to be proud of for 4A BHS to go into the LHS gym on Senior Night and bulldoze their way to a 40-27 win. It was a team effort with lot of things earned to win/save points to pull of a great dual win. Four consecutive wins at 126, 132, 138, 145 put the dual way for the Bulldogs, who are now 6-2 overall on the season.

  • Highlights: Bryce Shoemaker won his first BIT title and was named Outstanding Wrestler.

  • Results: The Bulldogs finished 15th as a team. There were 36 teams at the tournament.
  • Highlights: Senior Bryce Shoemaker and junior Tucker Clark finished second in their weight classes, senior Jason Von Bargen finished seventh, and senior Mark Harman finished eighth.
  • Next Up: Jan. 17 JV and varsity will be competing in the Cats&Dogs Dual at Burlington High School.
  • Date: Jan. 5
  • Opponents: Ft Scott, Bonner Springs, Lee’s Summit North (Mo), Baldwin, SM Northwest, Atchison, Basehor-Linwood, Highland Park, Sumner Academy, Paola, Unattached, Bishop Miege and Eudora
  • Results: The Bulldogs finished fourth out of 13 teams.
  • Highlights: Senior Bryce Shoemaker was the champion of the 138 lbs. weight class, freshman Joel Katzer got second in the 182 lbs. weight class.
  • Next Up: Varsity will compete in the Bobcat Classic at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11 at Basehor-Linwood. The tournament will resume on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m.

  • Results: Baldwin finished third out of ten teams
  • Highlights: Seniors Bryce Shoemaker and Jason Von Bargen were undefeated and so was junior Tucker Clark.
  • Next Up: JV will compete on Jan. 3 at home and varsity will compete on Jan. 5 at Bonner Springs.

  • Results: BHS finished 7th out of 22 teams.
  • Highlights: Senior Bryce Shoemaker won first place in the 138 lbs. weight class, defeating an All-American and defending 5A state champion for the title. Junior Tucker Clark and senior Mark Harman finished fourth in their weight classes.
  • Next Up: 9 a.m. on Saturday Dec. 15th at Ottawa.

  • Highlights: Senior Bryce Shoemaker finished 2nd at 138 lbs., and senior Jason Von Bargen finished 3rd at 160 lbs. Junior Tucker Clark (132 lbs.) and sophomore Jon Pratt (120 lbs.) each placed seventh.
