Two new head coaches for BHS fall sports

All of the fall sports teams at BHS are starting of their seasons with new goals. But volleyball and tennis are starting off with a new head coach, as well.

Jamie Inzer takes on the tennis team this year. Inzer has multiple goals for her team.

“My goal is to have everyone on the team improve on their skills and be able to take those skills
and use them in competition,” Inzer said.

Her plans are to create an environment where everyone can grow their skills.

“I want to provide the opportunity for growth and a social setting for teamwork, cooperation and sportsmanship,” Inzer said.

Inzer played tennis all four years at Baldwin and after high school continued to play at Johnson County Community College and Baker University. Inzer has also been an assistant tennis coach for three years at BHS and teaches at the Baldwin Elementary Primary Center.
Senior, Morgan Smith feels really fortunate to have already known Coach Inzer.

“We were really fortunate that we already knew Jamie,” Smith said. “Some of us have learned from her since the beginning and it only seems fit that we would continue to learn from her.”

The volleyball team will be starting off their season with new head coach, Jill Brown.
Brown is a returning head coach for the team. She coached the team when her daughter, Emily Brown, was in high school and coached the team to a state runner-up finish in 2004.

Coach Brown has five goals that she is determined to reach during the season.

“We have some very general goals: Get better every day, play with confidence, don’t beat ourselves, don’t let a team outwork us and play Baldwin volleyball,” she explained

Brown has such a so much love for playing volleyball that her favorite part of the day is going to the gym everyday at 3:30.

“I just have such a passion for volleyball and want to share that with the girls,” Brown said. “I had such a positive experience playing volleyball while I was at Lawrence High and I want the same for our girls.”
