SIDELINE SPORTS: NBA playoffs are out of control

Excitement has rushed through the veins of the NBA playoffs. Star players are getting hurt, teams coming back from 27 points down, point guards are getting ejected, and old guys playing like they’re 30.

Reigning MVP Derrick Rose has torn his ACL and is out for the rest of the season. This a huge problem for the Bulls. They have played most of the year without Rose, but he is still a MVP. He is still their best player and in the playoffs you can not win without your star player. The Bulls are in major trouble.Their chances of making a NBA finals run is over.

The injury bug is sweeping these playoffs and it is getting worse and worse.

The Boston Celtics have a case of the injury bug. Starting guard Ray Allen was out game one of the first round.

To make matters worse, starting point guard Rajon Rondo was ejected during the first round game against the Indiana Pacers. Rondo, arguing a foul call, got a technical foul for getting into the referee’s face. To make matters worse, he bumped into him after the first technical foul which made him have a early exit in the game. Rondo, with technical foul problems this year, already has been suspended for it once this season.

Who knows what the commissioner will do for his punishment. Either way, it looks like Rondo will be out for Game Two.

The Los Angeles Clippers made a huge come back against the Memphis Grizziles. The Clippers were down 27 points midway through the third. Point guard Chris Paul, who I think is still an elite player in this league, led the Clippers back to win the game. Paul made two key free throws to take the lead. Paul got a ton of help from power forward Blake Griffen and guard Nick Young. Young had nine points in less the one minute, how insane is that?

The top seed in the West is San Antonio, lead by some of the oldest guys in the league: Power Forward Tim Duncan and guards Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. Parker is going off on a fantastic season this year. I believe he is the all around MVP of the NBA. These three guys have been in this spot before. They were the one seed last year and are again this year. In the first round, the Spurs killed the Utah Jazz.

The Spurs, in my mind, are the best team in the West if they stay healthy. However, they will have a tough road to get to the finals. They have to go through the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are out to prove they are an elite team.
