SIDELINE SPORTS: Jayhawks will miss Robinson

KU standout junior forward Thomas Robinson has decided to forgo his senior year to enter the NBA draft. At 6 feet 10 inches tall, Robinson lead the Jayhawks in points and rebounds.

Robinson has decide that he thinks it will be best for him and his younger sister, Jayla, for him to enter the NBA draft and become a professional. Robinson, who averaged 11 rebounds and 17 points a game. ESPN writer Chad Ford has Robinson going at the number four pick the the draft.

“I feel that with Thomas Robinson not in the state of Kansas, a piece of KU is gone, and will never be the same,” said BHS sophomore Jenna Irey, a longtime KU and Thomas Robinson fan.

Robinson played three long years at Kansas took a back seat the first two years the Morris twins and Cole Aldrich. All three of those players are now in the NBA.

Robinson was the heart and soul of this Jayhawk team just a year after he had his grandparents and his mom all die in the same week. Robinson battled through that and ended up playing against Texas that same week. From there, he became one of the most dominant Jayhawk that Kansas has seen in the past five years.

Robinson finished his Kansas career by winning the Mr. Jayhawk Award, is a reward for the leader of the team, he was a co-winner with Tyshawn Taylor.

“I think he has impacted KU basketball tremendously,” Irey said. “Not only was he a great player, he was a hard worker and was an excellent role model for the team. He went through the loss of three close family members which is hard for any one but he also played through it”.

Robinson has made this year one of the most memorable seasons in a long time. He lead Kansas to the Final Four, where nobody thought Kansas would make the tournament.

Robinson has impacted Kansas basketball in a major way. He was nominated for the Naismith Award, a nomination for the best player of the year. Robinson has also won many Big 12 awards.

I personally think that the Thomas Robinson jersey should be hung up in Allen Fieldhouse with the great names of Kansas basketball. Robinson will be dearly missed and will always be loved as a Kansas Jayhawk.
