Jeffrey Cullins is a teacher here at BHS. He teaches Social Studies classes. His first job was as an Army Ranger. Later he became a business owner. Then he became a teacher at Blue Valley HS, later coming to Baldwin.
Q: How long have you been teaching?
“I have been teaching for 5 years.”
Q: If you weren’t teaching what would you be doing?
“I would be hanging out with my extraordinarily brilliant and stunningly beautiful wife! However, if you are enquiring about what I would do if I had to get a job, I would probably start another business.”
Q: Why did you become a teacher?
“I became a teacher entirely due to the students. I had recently divested myself of a business and was working part-time as a lunch lady at Blue Valley High School. While I was there, the students advocated that I become a teacher. So I did.”
Q: What is your best moment you’ve had while teaching?
“They are as countless as the stars, my good man. Every day as a Bulldog is a new joy, and a new chance to connect with those who are young and still striving to learn who they are and what their place in the world will be. The best memory I have of teaching will be the next one I make, perhaps with you, or your sister, or when one of you guys spills Dr. Pepper all over me. (An oddly frequent event).”
Q: What piece of advice would you give a student to become successful?
“I would suggest they make a good choice on who they invest their life with. If you choose to partner with someone who brings joy and peace to your life, every day you have will be better for it. However, if you choose to partner with someone who does not wish to bring those things to your partnership, your days will be much more uncomfortable.”
