Many students have questions about their teachers. Such as, about their favorite things or stuff they enjoy outside of teaching. Danielle Balsman has been at Baldwin High School for 12 years but before taught at the BJHS. She teaches Algebra I.    

What is your favorite topic to teach in math, why?

  • I really enjoy teaching about Quadratics Functions since for most students, it is there first chance to venture past linear functions.”

What is your favorite number?

 

  • “Pi.”

 

What or how did you get into teaching math?

 

  • “I kinda always knew that I wanted to be a teacher.  The math part came later. I discovered I was pretty good at it in junior high and loved the challenges it presented in high school.”

 

What was your favorite toy as a kid growing up?

 

  • “My gameboy (the original one).”

 

What is your all time favorite Marvel Movie?

 

  • “Avengers: Endgame!!!!”

 

What do you do outside of school and teaching?

 

  • “I coach volleyball, sing in my church choir and soak up all the family time that I can.”

 

What is your favorite holiday, why?

 

  • “Definitely Christmas.  I LOVE the general merriment and the opportunity to see loved ones and extended family.”

 

If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?

 

  • “Popcorn.”

 

Is there a certain thing that you wish you could teach? If so what and why?

 

  • “With in math, I would LOVE to teach Geometry.  It was my favorite in high school. If I ventured out of the field of math, I would want to be a music teacher.  Singing is something I partake in on a daily basis and I love to see students use music to express themselves.”
