The internet, a deep rabbit hole nearly every human on earth falls into when they dare to enter. Primarily teenagers fall into this deep rabbit hole, posting on social media for that rush of excitement seeing the fame they can gain from a single post.
Teenagers tend to open up online, posting pictures of themselves on a vacation to share their experience for example, or just overall sharing what they do in their day to day life. This makes teens vulnerable not only to cyberbullies, but criticism from adults as well, poking the very bubble that teenagers have full of confidence and self worth bit by bit.
This can cause insecurity, decreasing self worth/esteem, and even social anxiety. Though, drifting from that side of the internet, browsing all day and even night happens more often than you think.
Staring at a screen when it’s time to sleep, losing sleep hours just because you don’t want to separate from the thing distracting you from real life. Most teenagers enjoy the rush, the escape from the outside world, from stress.
Not only does it keep you distracted for hours on end, it takes your sleep, it takes time out of the day you could spend being with friends, constantly sitting down and scrolling on social media just for that rush. The addiction slowly takes over your mind, and it stresses you by being away from it, unable to escape the real world without it, causing a crave.
