People just throw away stuff rather than recycling it. The United States has the most landfills in the world and the number is 13,091 according to “Landfills” on zerowasteamerica. The state with the most landfills is Alaska with 322 and the states with the highest disposal rate are Montana and Wyoming; according to zero waste america. They throw away plastic, paper, cardboard, steel, glass, and aluminum.

This is the biggest problem that we have. There is a solution to this and that is recycling. Recycling plays a key role in reducing the amount of resources we use, slowing climate change, saving energy, and protecting our environment. 

Recycling can be a very big help to the whole world. There are three things that you can do to help out. First, you can buy recyclable materials. Second, you can reuse old stuff to make new stuff. Finally, put decomposing materials into a compost pile; which will make new dirt for your garden. 

In my opinion, people should think before they throw away something. Decide whether it is trash or recyclable. If it is recyclable, then put it into the recycling bin. Do not just put it in the trash, because it could end up in a landfill, in the ocean, in rivers and streams, or worse it could be eaten up by an animal to us.
