Schools Venturing for Electives

BHS schools have many electives. But not enough. Most of the kids at the school complain about having not enough electives to choose from

Many of the schools near the ocean or along a big lake have really cool electives. Some of the schools in California and Florida have electives that involves surfing classes, wakeboarding lessons, and sometimes snorkeling. Other schools have classes like hair styling classes and makeup classes. I think that is a really cool thing to do. It helps kids expand their horizons and look into new things and activities.

Our electives are not the ideal electives. Some of the more fun ones are Culinary, acting, PE, art and guitar. Culinary is the only fun ones that people choose and it is usually packed and no one can get in it. Our school has some good electives but not enough for everyone to get one that they like and actually enjoy. People have to hurry and fill out their school schedule so they can get the electives and classes they enjoy and want.

It is a hassle for the office workers to go through every elective and decide which one to give students. One other problem with not having enough electives is because we don’t have enough rooms. Although many of the teachers share rooms, some still have free time and or a room that is not  being used at that time.

Having more electives to choose from will help kids have fun during school. It will make them want to get up in the morning because that class they have something fun planned. Or the student really enjoys that elective and didn’t just pick a random one because a spot was empty on their schedule.
