Media violence too excessive

Media has made a huge impact on our world today. There are several different types of media including social media, televised media and printed media. Each different type allows participants to interact with others across the globe. All types have advantages but also several downsides.

Social media allows people to post and comment on other’s walls. Having this ability leads to judgmental and hurtful opinions. What seems like a joke is actually causing a lowered self-esteem, and in some cases suicide.

According to nobullying.com about 16 percent of the people in the United States consider suicide, 13 percent make a plan, and 8 percent actually commit the act while getting bullied over social media.

Although it seems as if social media can hurt, televised media can be almost as influential. From smoking ads, to teen pregnancy, to even criminal shows, televised media puts explicit ideas into the eyes of the youth of the U.S.

Televised media is said to slowly and subtly be making the youth of today’s minds altered and critical. According to tomorrowsworld.com, the average child watches 25 to 30 hours of television a week. This affects how the child performs in the school and also in the household.

Televised media is addictive. Not only children but, every person in America is vulnerable to getting trapped in the clutches of televised media. Everyone can be influenced by the screen that lights up the box in their home.

Printed media includes newspapers, magazines, and even books in the library. Besides reading the words on a screen, they can be even more meaningful when they are physically in your hands.

According to journalism.com, 45% of the population in America, read printed media. Not every story is violent, but not every story is as innocent. Violence is very present in printed media around this country.

All three types of media in America can cause depression, anxiety, and in the worst occasion, suicide. The only solution to this problem is to think before you speak, post, or comment. Your words can make a difference.
