With prom coming up, this year it will be held at Abe & Jakes Landing on April 18. Prom has been a thing for 147 years, since 1879.
“I do think Prom is a good experience for the kids, I think the Prom committee puts in a lot of effort and it shows, when the kids come I believe it turns into a really good night,” counselor Autumn Weiss said.
The prom committee works hard to make it perfect which allows for the students to not have to worry about anything going wrong. This lets them just have fun and not have to worry about anything.
“A little more than 200 kids usually come, I think on average we have around 210,” Weiss said.
Every year students look forward to going to prom and are excited to see who gets crowned King and Queen.
‘“I am excited to put it on, every year I look forward to what they come up with, what the theme is and how they want to decorate,” Weiss said.
This year’s theme for Prom is suits and stilettos and tickets can be purchased by the end of March on gofan.com. Tickets are sold for $30 to $35.
“I did enjoy Prom, I entered the place with a couple of my friends and it was extremely exquisite you know, the phone booth, the look over the river, it was a pretty extraordinary night,” senior Tucker Bradley said
Bradley is excited for the upcoming prom and is really looking forward to seeing what they are able to pull off this year.
“The place was packed with people, in a very upbringing mood which makes me looking forward to going to Prom again with a fine group of people to pull it together, it will be quite delectable,” Bradley said.
