Chad Scoby has been in the Baldwin USD 348 school district for 25 years. He is the head coach in softball, he is the JV coach for high school volleyball, he is also a coach for the high school girls basketball team.
Scoby is balancing being a 7th grade math teacher, coach and being an all time dad.
“It was a lot harder when I was a beginning teacher because I had to split time between planning for my classroom instruction and practice/game responsibilities,” Scoby said. “Gaining experience in both areas over the years has allowed me to adapt material instead of creating from scratch, which saves quite a bit of prep time.”
Scoby has taken a total of 5 positions to get more involved in Baldwin.
“I enjoy being part of a team that grows together and sacrifices personal accolades for a common goal,” Scoby said. “Baldwin kids work hard and want to compete, so they make the decision to coach easy.”
Scoby is also a full time dad to his three daughters. He has been balancing being a coach for two or more sports for about 25 years all in Baldwin.
“It’s been a great way to stay involved in the community I grew up in,” Scoby said. “It’s allowed me to actively participate in my daughters’ academic and athletic careers.”
One of Scoby’s previous students, Kinsley Scott has enjoyed Scoby very much.
“Mr. Scoby was a great teacher. I feel like I could follow along in his class very well,” Scott said. “I was never that confused because he always went in depth with his teaching.”
