Humans of BHS: Reggie Harris

“When I was at Baker University, I played football as a receiver and running back. I was also a kicker and punt returner. I earned an academic scholarship as well as an athletic scholarship for both track and football. One of the things that I had always wanted to do was play with my brother in football on the same team. My brother was three years older than me so we did not play on the same team until we were both in college. During my freshman year I got to play with my brother so that whole first year of football was a very fun experience for me. I played football from the age of ten through my college years which means I played for 20 plus years. As a young boy I used to love baseball, but I was not very good at it which is why I stuck with football.  When I finished my first year at Baker University I was recognized as a top 10 athlete in the nation for punt returns. I went to college to earn a degree in Exercise Science because I wanted to be an athletic trainer. As you know, I am a counselor at Baldwin High School so my original career choice did not happen. Once I started college I realized a couple months in that I didn’t want to be an athletic trainer so I changed my plan of study.”
