Be prepared to be STARSTRUCK! The BHS choir is putting on a concert on Saturday Mar. 26, at 2 p.m. in the PAC.

Concert choir will be performing Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen, purple choir will be performing “Walking on Sunshine,” by Katrina and the Waves, silver choir will be performing “Life is a Highway,” by Tom Cochrane and the BHS a capella group will be performing a medley from High School Musical. All tenor bass voices will perform “I’m Still Standing,” by Elton John and all treble voices are performing a piece called “What Happens When a Woman,”  by Alexandra Olsavsky.

“We have a loose theme of empowerment and playing/singing/standing up for change for Starstruck this year,” said Rachel Naughtin, director of choirs at BHS.

The choirs have spent that whole quarter preparing for this event. This performance will include various genres of music including modern pop and other soulful music.

Starstruck is a unique concert because the students perform choreography along with their songs. The choirs have been working with guest choreographer, Gwentessa Alfie. She choreographed for the choirs last year as well.

In addition, anyone can audition to perform at Starstruck. Auditions will be held on Monday, Feb. 28 and Wednesday Mar. 2 in the choir room during seminar. The audition sign-up sheet is located outside of the choir room.

“As you can see this year we wanted to make Starstruck especially meaningful and special since we were unable to have live concerts for the majority of last school year. We also have a spectacular group of choir seniors, so I wanted Starstruck to be memorable for them, especially after the tough year we’ve had. Programming is always fun for me because I always have more ideas than I can usually program into one concert! Starstruck is different from typical concerts because we have choreography and use backing tracks instead of live piano.” Naughtin said.

Tickets will be on sale during lunch the week following Starstruck. You can also pre-order tickets through choir members. $5/ticket ahead of time, or special 5-ticket bundle for $20 ahead of time! $7 at the door.
