Theater students at BHS are preparing hard every evening for the upcoming fall musical.

This year the musical “The Music Man Jr.” is directed by music teacher Katrina Jacobsen.

“I chose ‘The Music Man’ after looking at a number of potential shows,” Jacobsen said. “I fell in love with the show when I saw it and knew the students here would do an amazing job making it their own.”

Jacobson is impressed with the progress the cast has made, and hopes for a great show.

“The cast has made spectacular progress,” Jacobsen said. “It’s going to be such an incredible show. We hope to see a lot of the school there.”

This is Jacobson’s first time directing the musical, and she has really enjoyed this opportunity.

“I have loved every second of directing the musical,” Jacobsen said. “It is so fun being on the other side of the production and organizing all the different moving parts.”

The musical takes a lot of people to make happen. Sophomore Cas Sumner is a member of the cast.

“My favorite part about the musical is how unique and important everybody is to the show, and how supportive we are of one another,” Sumner said.

This is Sumner’s second year doing the fall musical. He loves doing the musical and is excited for the show.

It’s my favorite fall extracurricular activity and I always feel so gratified after the show,” Sumner said.

“The Music Man Jr.” performance starts at 7 p.m. on the nights of Nov. 14, 15, and 16. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.
