This is chess club

There are not as many active members in the Baldwin High School Chess Club right now. But there are two original members of this club, currently.

“There are six current chess club members now in 2019,” said Samuel White, one of the original members.

Chess Club at the BHS has been around since 2017.

“The club has been around for four years,” White said.

It used to be in Jim Ashcraft’s room after school from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday.

“I started the very first meeting of chess club in my freshman year,” White said. “Was actually the first meeting of chess club ever and it well we had advertised for all the first year and so couple of people showed up.”

At Chess Club there are chess boards and snacks that are brought by some members of the club.

“Well it’s a great exercise,” White said. “For the mind and the people in the chess club are fun to be around for me a list and it was well.”

There is a chess tournament next year in the BJHS cafeteria.

“The chess tournament is always a fun highlight for the chess club each year,” said teacher Kit Harris, who helps organize it every year.

The club will be restarting in a few weeks, but they are looking for a new location on Mondays.
