Students share views on the Presidential Election

With increased interest in the upcoming Presidential Election, students also have their opinions about their favorite candidates.

A tweet was sent out on the Bulldog Bulletin Twitter about who people supported at this point in the semester. Bernie Sanders (D) won with 40% of the votes while Ted Cruz (R) came in second with 30%. Right after Cruz is Donald Trump (R) with 26% and dead last is Hillary Clinton (D) with only 4% of the votes.

“I think that most kids don’t really know what they’re talking about,” freshman Will Evans said, “They just get their opinion from the internet. As for me I haven’t put much interest in the poll so I don’t have an opinion on the candidates.”

Many students support Bernie Sanders, a Democratic candidate that supports a progressive economic economy that creates jobs, raises wages, protects the environment, and provides healthcare for all.

“Bernie Sanders,” freshman Isaac Bailey said, “because I think that he has good ideas and he is someone to follow through with them and not make false promises.”

Others do not care about the election, and find none of the candidates worthy of being in office.

“I don’t care because all of them are not good,” sophomore Morgan Rhodes said. “Trump is unintelligent. Hillary is sneaky. Ted Cruz seems lazy. Bernie is too eager, and the others are not publicized enough for me to know about them.”

“I, personally, put my trust behind Bernie Sanders,” junior Tanner Wilson said. “While my family has always voted Republican, I strongly believe that Bernie has the correct views and mind set that we need in a President and leader.”

“Ted Cruz,” sophomore Jessi Dowell said, “because he shows a promising future for our country and doesn’t promise us things that may or may not ever happen.”

“Uhh… can I plead the 5th?” Math teacher Danielle Balsman said.

“I like Bernie Sanders,” sophomore Grace Cooper said, “because I don’t like any of the other candidates and he has some of the best ideas out of the people running.”

“Ted Cruz,” freshman Lyle Story said, “because he is cool. Hillary Clinton is not cool and Bernie Sanders is old.”

“Bernie Sanders is pretty cool,” junior David Wallace said, “but I don’t really pay attention to the election since I can’t vote.”
