ACT test important for college placement

A good ACT score can make a huge impact on a student’s acceptance to their preferred college. The ACT is coming up soon, the earliest one is Sept. 12 at  Baldwin High School.  ACT is one way for colleges to determine acceptance. So a good ACT score can help a student get into a quality college.

For this reason, a student might get nervous about taking the test or particular part of it.

When asked what worried senior Genesis Barwick she said, “Mostly the math portion.”

Other students did not have any worries about taking the ACT.

“Not really, I have already taken it once, I know what to expect,” senior Elizabeth Christener said.

Junior Riese Wismer also is not worried about taking the ACT. By taking it she hopes to get into a very good college.

“Something Ivy league,”  Wismer said.

These Schools are incredibly tough to get into, but scoring at the top of the ACT, can usually guarantee admittance.

Many take it for this reason, as BHS counselor Debbie Baldwin said.

“The ACT is advertising that every college in the united states accepts the ACT score,” Baldwin said.

Baldwin also noted that here in the midwest colleges recognize the ACT more. So if there is a college in the Midwest some would like to go to, taking the ACT could be their ticket in.

To take the ACT students have registered about six weeks in advance and pay the admittance fee which is either $39.50 or $56.50. Depending on whether or not they signed up for the ACT with the writing portion. On the day of the test students must up with I.D. and the ticket that was given to take test.

Students can sign up to take the ACT on these dates: Sept. 12, Oct. 24, Dec. 12, Feb. 6, April 9, June 11.
