Art Club prepares trip to St. Louis

“Our students will be exposed to architecture, visual art, and even interactive sculptures,” BHS art instructor Christy Carlisle said.

On Saturday, Feb. 15, Carlisle and some BHS art club members will be headed to St. Louis to be exposed to different types of art and experiences. They will travel by train and have a chance to study multiple type of artistic mediums.

Carlisle explains what they will see and do during the trip.

“We will travel to the Arch, have a photoshoot at the Botanical Gardens, and also eat at the Spaghetti Factory,” Carlisle said. “We will travel by train, which serves dinner just like a restaurant. Also, the train has an upper deck that is windowed, so the students and I can watch as we go.”

Carlisle explained what kind of art they will be exposed to.

“We are going to the city museum, which is made entirely by repurposed material. Inside the museum we will see things such as repurposed sculptures made out of found objects, and are still in production. We will be able to interact with the sculptures and contribute to the art, the whole museum is fun for art and science,” she said.

Not only is it a treat for the students, but for Carlisle as well.

“Well, I love to eat,” Carlisle joked. “I’m excited to go to the Spaghetti Factory, and also find all the starbucks I can. At the same time, the students who are going are a good bunch of kids, and I’m excited to have fun with all the people I’m going to be with.
