Baldwin City, best known for it’s Maple Leaf Festival

The brightly colored leaves fall gently to the ground, the cool air carries the smells of Fall around Baldwin City. Maple Leaf Festival is almost upon us. Soon the crowds will descend and the smell of turkey legs and funnel cakes will fill the air. Maple Leaf draws people from all over and involves all kinds of people, as well as filling our town with fun and life.

“I enjoy Maple Leaf because it’s a fun event that happens only once a year that brings our community together,” junior Dylan Auger said about Maple Leaf.

Baldwin High School has many connections to the Maple Leaf Festival as students and faculty invest their time in the upcoming festivities. BHS’s marching band will be performing in the parade Saturday morning. They will be performing pieces from Star Trek that they have been working on.

“I’m excited for the Maple Leaf parade this year because the music’s lots of fun and it’s a good way to end my senior year marching season,” senior Madeline Miley saids about marching in this years parade.

The pom squad will be leading the way marching just in front of the band. The cheerleaders will also have a part in the festival as part of the parade. Maple Leaf gives the band, cheerleaders and other student-involved organizations a chance to show their talent.
