Smithsonian exhibit in Baldwin City

The Smithsonian is an institution where groups of museums are made up of research centers and over 150 museums. The Smithsonian is important because it increases the knowledge of American culture by looking in to the past of their work. The Ross and Marianna Beach Foundation supported the exhibit to come to Kansas. For March 23 to May 5, the Lumberyard Arts Center in Baldwin City will be displaying the Smithsonian exhibit.

Smithsonian exhibit will be traveling to other Kansas towns as well as Baldwin City.

“Having the exhibit coming here will be great for everyone,” junior Sydney Roller said. “People who aren’t really into art should still come and see it.”

The Smithsonian exhibit is a great opportunity for everyone, according to BHS teacher Patty Lenning.

“I really think the exhibit is great gallery that is coming to Baldwin,” Lenning said. “Everyone should attend and see this one in life time chance to see it.”

Art Teacher Christy Carlisle husband helped with the Smithsonian exhibit.

“Im looking forward to it, I know they’ve been working on it for a couple years,” Carlisle said. “It is a great opportunity for Baldwin. The theme is working people. My husband matted all the pieces for them. He told me the photos are really cool.”
