iPads may be coming for all BHS students

The question of iPads coming to Baldwin High School is a current proposal. USD 348 Superintendent Paul Dorathy and the school board are discussing this issue, they have not yet came to a decision. The iPads would be available to each student to have. They would be used for their classes. Every teacher has already received an iPad to test them out.

Q. What are the benefits of the iPads coming to BHS?

A. “I see benefits of having the iPad,” Principal Rob McKim said. “We have a class that had the iPad and we have seen benefits. But we also have concerns.”

Q. What is the total cost of the iPads?

A. “It depends on the size of GB of iPad,” McKim said. “Depending on whether we lease or buy them, the decision is all up to superintendent Paul Dorathy and the board.”

Q. Do you support or not support the iPad proposal?

A. “I think having the ability to load on books is great,” Business teacher Patty Lenning said. “This will be easier on the kids.”

A. “It’s not that I don’t support them,” Math teacher Mike Curran said. “I just am not sure how the iPads are going to enhance what I do. I can see how the benefit to the English departments and Science but just not for my class.”

A. “I think having iPads would benefit the students and make school easier,” junior Allison Waymire said.

A. “I support the iPad proposal because anything we can do to keep with technology and be on the cutting edge with learning,” attendance secretary Stacy McDaniels said.

A. “Yes and no, I think it would be harder to write papers and trying to keep up with charging it,” junior Ariana Mihesuah said.

A. “I think the iPads are a waste of money, it could be put to better use,” junior Jenna VonBargen said.
