Freshmen officers elected, ready to join Student Council

The votes are in and the new 2012 freshmen class officers are eager to begin their Student Council offices.

Taking on the roll as President will be George Letner, with Vice President Kelsey Kehl.

Secretary will be Taylor Maxwell, Treasurer is Ashley Ikenberry. The two Members-at-Large will be Emma Burnett and Madeline Neufeld.

This was the first win for George Letner.

“I actually wasn’t that nervous about the election this year,” Letner said. “Even though I had never won a STUCO election before, I felt really good this year and more confident than in previous years.”

This is a big step for the freshmen to come into a new school with a bunch of older kids and take on this responsibility.

“I wasn’t very nervous about the election,” Taylor Maxwell said, “but also kind of nervous because it’s my first year of high school Student Council.”

The freshman STUCO officers are in charge of Winter Formal in December. Some of the duties include planning the music, hiring a disk jockey, and decorating.

“My goals this year are to increase the STUCO budget, streamline communication between the student body and STUCO,” Letner said, “and overall make BHS a more inviting, fun, and enjoyable place to learn.”
