Senior Trista Martin is 18 and moved to Baldwin in the 6th grade. She says some of her favorite memories from here have sprung from the people around her.
“My favorite memories have been growing up with some of the kids here,” Martin said. “The softball team, I have made some great memories with, especially Cadence.”
Her favorite memories from just senior year, however, came to life on the very first day.
“Senior sunrise has probably been my favorite memory from this year so far,” she said. “I had gotten ready around 6:30 and was out in the parking lot by about 7. But it was my best friends who made it the most memorable by being there with me.”
After high school, Martin plans on pursuing her dream career by going into nursing school.
“After high school, I plan on going to nursing school to be a labor and delivery nurse at Johnson County Community College, then after that, I want to go to a different school. I chose this school because it has a good nursing program,” she said.
Martin talked about some of her setbacks through high school, one being romance.
“During my junior year, I was more focused on my relationship than school, and it was kind of like an obsession,” Martin said. “After the breakup, my grades and school have gotten a lot better compared to then.”
Now that she is done with the relationship, she has set goals for herself regarding grades.
“Throughout this year, I have had the determination to keep my grades above a C,” she said. “For me, being at a D is not the best, and having grades C and high just makes you look good to colleges and other schools.”
