Every year, Spirit Week and Homecoming transform our school into a place full of color, laughter, and excitement. Students show off their creativity, celebrate school pride, and come together as a community. But what makes these events so special?
“I believe that Spirit Week is important because it gives us something to look forward to. It’s a way for students to connect with each other.” Rylee Webb said.
Spirit Week is all about fun and participation. Each day has a different theme — Pajama Day, Bikers vs. Surfers, Happy Gilmore, and Zoom Call — and students love dressing up.
“The best outfit I saw during Spirit Week was the Buc-ee’s beaver onesie that Cooper, Leo, and Colton wore on Pj’s and Pals,” Rylee said.
According to many students, Spirit Week helps break the routine and creates a strong sense of unity.
Homecoming, on the other hand, is more than just a football game. It’s a time to celebrate school spirit with parades, pep rallies, and the big dance.
“My favorite Homecoming memory is cheering at the football game. Seeing all the students together, cheering for their school — I think it’s beautiful.” Jordan Webb said.
For many, it’s also a chance to reconnect with old friends and create new memories.
Both Spirit Week and Homecoming play a significant role in building school pride and community connection. They remind us that school is not just about studying — it’s also about making memories and having fun together.
Even for exchange students who have never experienced a true American Spirit Week or Homecoming, the excitement is contagious.
“I’ve never participated in a Spirit Week before — in my country, we don’t have anything like it — but I loved dressing up all week. It was so much fun.” Fabiola Jordan, exchange student from Spain said.
Spirit Week and Homecoming are more than just annual tradition. Whether it’s dressing up in creative outfits, cheering at the big game, or dancing with friends at the dance, these events strengthen the bond between classmates and remind everyone of the pride they share in their school. It’s this spirit of unity and celebration that makes them truly unforgettable.
