Eboni Gerrard is taking the next step in her cheer career and joining college cheer. She has been doing cheer for 3 years but continuing it for more taking it to a next level.
“I wanted to join cheer because my friends were doing it and I wanted something to do with my free time,” Gerrard said.
“I wanted to keep cheering because when I started I didn’t think I would like it so much but I did and wanted to continue to do it,” Gerrard said.
Gerrard is going to Baker University to be on the cheerleading squad.
“I decided to go to Baker because I wanted to stay close to home and I wanted to cheer there because they have a good team,” Gerrard said.
Gerrard hasn’t cheered her whole high school career but most. She has tried other sports before cheer.
“I started with volleyball my freshman year but there was just a lot of people so I quit but i did like volleyball I am glad I did it but I really enjoy cheer,” Gerrard said
“I have been cheering for 3 years since I started my sophomore year,” Gerrard said.
“Patty had a big impact on me,” Gerrard said. “She was encouraging and I could tell she wanted the best for me and wanted us to succeed.”
Since Gerrard’s cheerleading career came to an end at BHS she has had many memories from her 3 years of cheer.
“One of my fav past memories is riding on the bus to and from games and state we just get to talk and have fun and we get to bond,” Gerrard said.
