BHS anatomy teacher Dr. David Yoo has fished in 18 states so far. He plans on getting to fish in every state in the United States.

His favorite state to fish in Alaska, he loves it because “You catch the biggest fish and it has the most untamed nature,” Yoo said.

There are around eight hundred freshwater in North America and Dr. Yoo wants to catch as many as possible. There are only a couple of freshwater fish at Dr. Yoo likes to go for the most, any type of bass and in the winter trout. His favorite fish to cook is salmon, Yoo grills but his favorite way is to air fry it.

Yoo’s best fishing story is when he went to Hope, Alaska.

“It was in the middle of the wilderness and I was camping with my niece. While we were camping that night our dog started to go crazy in the tent, we waited until morning to go outside and found two large piles of bear scat. Later that day I caught 138 massive salmon,” Yoo said.

Since traveling can be expensive, Yoo has found some great spots to fish close to home.

“I go to Melvern Lake because they have small mouth bass. Other times I just go to Gardner lake and catch anything I can sink into,” Yoo says.
