“Well, I first got to Baldwin in 6th grade, when I first came to Baldwin I weighed approximately 160 because I was overweight. Once 8th grade came wrestling stopped for a full season, and I gained all that weight so I did football. I used to be a very athletic kid. I used to do karate, I did soccer, I did basketball for a little bit, and that is why I think I like wrestling more than any other sport, because I am a very aggressive person. Not many people know, but I like to get into active sports, that is why I did karate in the first place. When I was at my biggest, when I had my first doctor’s appointment, she said that if I kept going at the rate that I was going, I was going to be diabetic. I was scared because I know what that can do to you, I have seen some of my friends get fat and it not turn out.”

“So what drove me the most was that and I want to live a healthy life. At first in wrestling we would run laps and I could not run a full lap, it was hard for me. Well obviously Kit, my mom, my grandma, were a big support. I come from a big family, they are healthy but they are not in shape, that is the thing. My mom was a big support, her dad died at like 40 or 50 from a heart attack and because I know weight is a problem on that, so I just thought I would do a sport and lose the weight so I would not have troubles in my years. Mentally, I have always been happy, but now I have lost all of the weight I feel happier and I feel healthier. Baldwin has made me happier because in Colombia, you hear all about the crimes and all that. Baldwin, I live in a small quiet town, so not that much happens, but you do not have to worry about crimes all day.”

“When I did football my 7th grade year, I was 180 because of all the working out we did, once that stopped I gained weight. So once wrestling came up, I found out about it. I did not know about it at first, so whenever I told my parents, because I came home and I did not tell them anything I just came home and dropped the papers and said, well I am joining wrestling. I’m glad to still be wrestling. I have gained some weight back but I am gaining that by muscle, I work out every day. Big thanks to (Dr.) Yoo though, he is a personal helper sometimes. What I did is I ate a lot of chicken salads where I got meat but also more of a salad type diet, so I went to a vegan diet for a tiny bit and that is what slimmed me down a lot.”
