Bulldog Bulletin, steps to publication

Baldwin High School’s journalism team, a.k.a the Bulldog Bulletin, works hard every day to produce well-written news articles and an award-winning publishing.

There are many steps to publicating good articles. They have to first interview people and research their topics, then they have to write it out and put it all together. They then have to go back and fix any errors in the article. At the end of their publication they find a suitable picture to go with it and then they publish it in the school newspaper. Many people enjoy writing for the Bulldog Bulletin including junior Becky Fritzsche.

“My favorite part is definitely the creating of pages because its just so much fun for me,” she said.

Although it is fun to write articles, it can be hard at times. Knowing what to write and making sure that there are no errors with spelling, grammer, spacing and other formatting issues can be difficult. Fritzsche explains the hardest part for her about publishing and putting it all together.

“Making sure there are no errors and that everything is evenly spaced and making sure that everything looks together and coordinating and everything looks nice,” she said.

There are some steps to be taken before publishing the article. First they have to research and write the articles and correct errors. Then they have to design the page and any pictures involved. Putting it all together to make the final product can some time, about one to two weeks usually. Fritzsche explains her steps to publicating.

“It’s a lot of getting stories written and making sure everything is in the even columns, adding photos and credit the photos and it’s a lot of creative process,” she said.

Fritzsche is one of the many people working for the Bulldog Bulletin.
