Meet the Homecoming candidates

Seniors nominated candidates for Homecoming King and Queen last week during lunch. The Queen candidates are Kelsey Dighans, Kaitlyn Barnes and Jessie Katzer. The King candidates are Caleb Gaylord, Trent Russell and Clay Thomas.

The entire student body will vote for their favorite King and Queen candidate next week and the winners will be announced at half time of the football game Friday, Sept. 21. The candidates have answered some questions about themselves in order to help students get to know them a little bit better.

Kelsey Dighans

  • Favorite Song: Never Gonna be Alone by Nickleback
  • Favorite Celebrity: Hillary Duff or Ellen Degeneres
  • Future Plans: Go to college to study fashion, travel and study abroad
  • Someone she admires: “My mom, she is always so supportive and there for me. I look up to her because she expects me to my best and is so encouraging. I can trust her with anything and she is the best at making me smile.”
  • What she’s involved in: Art Club, Mardi Gras Diversity Day, NHS, FCA, FCCLA, FBLA, Letterman’s Club, International Club, Yearbook, Community Service Club, Cross Country, Basketball, Track.

Kaitlyn Barnes:

  • Favorite Food: Seafood and salad
  • Future Plans: Attend a four-year university
  • Some she admires: “My family, they strive to learn, grow in faith and keep a positive attitude.”

Jessie Katzer

Caleb Gaylord

Clay Thomas
