Before we know it winter will be here. What do we all love about winter? It’s sports. Winter sports at BHS include both girls and boys wrestling as well as both girls and boys basketball. Head coach of both BJHS and BHS Eric Toot is especially excited this year.

“I’m excited for the challenge and the opportunity to coach this group of young ladies,” Toot said. “We have outstanding kids in our program and they are the #1 reason I took the job.

Coach Toot is the new head coach of girls high school basketball. Not only is he coaching high school basketball, he’s also coaching the girls junior high team.

“I want consistency in our program from grades 7-12, so it was important for me to continue coaching the JH, at least for one season, in order to make that happen. I also love coaching JH as much as I do coaching at the high school level. The more basketball I get to coach the happier I am,” Toot said.

Another team that is looking forward to a fantastic season is boys basketball. Head coach Donald Blanchat.

“Our goal for this season is to instill our culture into the boys who play this year,” Blanchat said.

Players are also excited about a big season.

“I’m excited to come back and have a better record than last year,” sophomore Nick Johnson said.

On to another winter sport, wrestling is right around the corner.

Coach Kit Harris head wrestling coach has been involved in wrestling for about 43 years.

“My goal every year is to win a lot and place high, and to help kids learn wrestling and enjoy the sport,” Harris said.

Sports are not always about winning.

“The best part of being head coach of the wrestling team is having a positive impact on the kids and teaching them about the sport that I love,” Harris said.
