Bulldog Wrestlers 1st practice of the season

This Monday, the first wrestling practice of the 19-20 season was held. The wrestlers all joined together in the MPR and talked about the season and how it will work.

“It feels a lot more different than any other wrestling room.” freshman Caden Trenary said. “It’s a very positive environment and everyone is just really nice.”

Lots of new freshman have joined the season and few are pushing for that varsity spot.

“It’s high school so I think it will be harder, and I’m wrestling varsity so it is going to be tough, but I don’t really know, I might be wrong,” freshman Jack Baron said. “The thing that keeps me in the sport is the feeling that you get after a good match, even if you have lost, it is still just a good feeling.”

“I am really excited about this season,” head coach Kit Harris said. “We have a lot of wrestlers on the mat working hard every day getting ready to compete this season. We have the most wrestlers we have ever had. The new girls on the team are so eager to learn and become a part of a great sport and start new traditions. They are becoming a close knit group already. On the boys side, we have a lot of newcomers, and also some returners who are ready to make their mark.”

There are up to 47 wrestlers have joined the wrestling team and counting, the wrestling room is very crowded and the team is ready to wrestle.

“I don’t know much about wrestling,” freshman Carly Armbrister said. “I’ve only ever had three practices worth of experience.”

The first meet of the 2019-20 season will be in the BJHS gym on Dec. 4, the 21st annual Purple/White Dual.
